I began my legal career over a decade ago, focusing on corporate and commercial law, property law, trademark law, labour law, and corporate secretaryship while working as a paralegal before becoming an attorney-at-law in Sri Lanka in 2015.
After relocating to England, my career shifted toward immigration, refugee, and nationality law, where I developed a strong commitment to serving vulnerable clients—such as victims of human trafficking, survivors of domestic violence, and individuals seeking refuge from persecution. These experiences exposed me to the complex humanitarian issues and traumas often associated with immigration cases, necessitating not only legal expertise but also empathy and a trauma-informed approach.
In 2022, I moved to Canada and joined Zacharias Vickers McCann LLP, initially as a legal assistant and later as an articling student. I was called to the Bar in British Columbia in February 2025 and subsequently became an associate specializing in civil litigation, personal injury, and immigration law.
Working closely with individuals navigating the uncertainties of the immigration process has taught me the importance of creating a safe and trusting environment where clients can share their stories without fear or shame. My journey in immigration law has become intertwined with my dedication to supporting and uplifting vulnerable clients, shaping the compassionate, client-focused practice I bring to all areas of law today.
My diverse experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of serving clients with compassion and integrity, especially those navigating complex and often overwhelming legal systems. Throughout my career, I have prioritized open dialogue, empathy, and client-centered service, ensuring that every client feels heard and supported at every stage of their legal journey.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and exploring the outdoors through hiking and camping.
